Update :Rajarata University closed again indefinitely.
Rajarata University Administration indefinitely closed all its faculties except the Medical Faculty today and students have been informed to vacate their hostels before 4pm tomorrow.
The decision was reached by University administration after teaching staff boycotted academic and administrative activities from last Monday.
Lecturers refrained from academic and administrative activities after students held the vice chancellor and a group of teacher’s hostage on certain student demands.
Later they were released on six conditions, and the university was re-opened on the 27th but teachers did not report for lectures claiming that their lives were at risk under the prevailing condition.
University Vice Chancellor Professor Ranjith Wijewardana said that the teachers action has now been supported by three unions of none academic staff as well.
Accordingly except the Medical faculty at Saliyapura, all other faculties including Applied Sciences, Management and Humanities and Agriculture have been closed indefinitely.
When our news team contacted Rajarata University Students Federation, its President Dinesh Kumara said the Teachers Association should be held responsible for breaking promises.

Rajarata University has been closed indefinitely.
The University Administration has informed the students to leave the hostels before 4pm tomorrow.
The decision was made after the university was unable to continue its academic activities due to the Lecturers’ strike.
