A search operation for persons who mixed poison into the Hambanthota Mati-gaththa tank.-Video
A special operation has been launched in search for the persons who had mingled poison into the Hambanthota Koholankala Metigatta tank water.
Hambanthota Wildlife office forest protection officer Ajith Gunatunga told our news team that even by now this special operation was being carried out in the Koholankala and Metigatta tank areas.
The residents in the vicinity of the Hambanthota Maetigatta Tank had informed that wild animals of the area had been dying in an unusual manner.
Forest Protection Officer Ajith Gunatunga said that during the search operation carried out by the Wildlife Office personnel subsequently deer, monkeys and other animals were found dead in different places in the vicinity of the tank.
Our reporter said that some monkeys had been dead on the trees.
Wildlife office forest protection officer Ajith Gunatunga said further that poison had been mixed also into the streams in different locations around the tank.
Residents said that some were trying to cause death to the animals by mixing poison and sell them to tourists coming to Hambanthota.
