The External Affair Ministry stated South African Vice President Cyril Ramafoza will visit Sri Lanka in order to discuss about the reconciliation process.

He is reported to have discussions with government representatives as well as political party leaders of the Opposition during his stay in the island.

South African President Jacob Zuma said earlier that he was ready to mediate in Sri Lanka’s reconciliation process, and later he named Cyril Ramafoza as his country’s special representative.

South Africa which faced an apartheid struggle for years, later reached reconciliation through the truth and non violence.

Nelson Mandela gave leadership to such a peaceful struggle and Ramafoza involved in the struggle as a front liner.

A TNA delegation also had discussions with Cyril Ramafoza when they visited South Africa recently.

However nationalist movements of both factions reject any foreign mediation in the reconciliation process but the TNA considers Cyril Ramafoza’s mediation is an optimistic step.
