A tense situation arose in the Kandy town today when an individual climbed on to the hood of his vehicle demanding the police to find his daughter.

The individual who is a resident of the Lagamuwa area in Kadugannawa noted that his 25 year old daughter was abducted in an official vehicle belonging to an eminent person in the government on the 29th of last month.

He further noted that even though he lodged a complaint with the police in this regard, the police have not taken necessary measures to find his daughter.

Later he has left the location under the request of the OIC of the Traffic division of the Kandy police.

When we made inquiries in this regard from the Kadugannawa police, a senior spokesperson noted that the daughter of the individual had not been abducted.

He noted that investigations revealed that the protestor’s daughter had got married without her parent’s consent and her father had not allowed her husband to enter the house. Therefore the daughter has left the house with her husband.

The police further said that the statement made by the father that a vehicle belonging to the Prime Minister’s office was used for the purpose, is a false accusation.
