Dr Niroshan Premarathna says that the Government Medical Officers Association had incurred an unprecedented expense of 30 Million Rupees for the last year alone.
Premarathna, contested for the post of Chairman of the GMOA at the recent election on the 28th.
Following a petition filed by 5 persons including Dr Niroshan Premarathna against holding the Annual general meeting to elect office bearers of the GMOA, courts had issued a restraining order.
However, the GMOA went forward with the election and later on another court order was issued refraining the appointees from working in their capacities.
Dr Niroshan Premarathna speaking further at a media briefing in Colombo today stated that Doctors who speak against the activities of the GMOA were given transfers at times.
