All are equal before law; Magistrate tells Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara thero.
When a case against Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera was taken before court today, Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage said all are equal before law.
The case was filed against the BBS General Secretary for issuing a statement sacrilegious to holy Quran, storming a Jathika Bala Sena press conference at a hotel in Slave Island and forcefully removing some documents belonging to the Jathika Bala Sena organization.
Police informed the court that they found the particular documents which belong to Jathika Bala Sena Secretary Watareka Vijitha Thera.
Lawyers appeared for Jathika Bala Sena also informed the Court that Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera used abusive language against the counsels of the complainant during a previous court day.
At that moment, the Magistrate warned the Thera not to repeat similar incidents, and told him that the court would have to take stern actions in the event a similar case is filed against him.
The Magistrate has told that attorneys-at-law are members of the Court therefore they are permitted to appear for any party.
Later the Magistrate ordered an inquiry over the Thera’s use of abusive language against lawyers and submit him a report without delay.
The case will be taken again for hearing on September 1st.
Meanwhile Watareka Vijitha Thera who is in remand for making a false police complaint was produced before the Panadura Magistrate today.
