Update : Opposition Leader rejects MP Thevarapperuma's Letter of Resignation
Kalutara District UNP representative MP Palitha Thevarapperuma stated that Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe has rejected his letter of resignation.
The MP has made a previous statement that the IGP should resign from his post after taking responsibility of the recent incident at Aluthgama, if not the MP said that he will resign from his post.
Following this statement MP Thevarapperuma tendered his letter of resignation today.
The MP further stated that the Opposition Leader rejected his letter of resignation when it was submitted after the UNP Parliamentary group meeting which was held today at the Parliament complex.

MP Thevarapperuma to hand over his resignation letter this afternoon.
Parliamentarian Palitha Thewarapperuma told our news team that he will hand over his letter of resignation to the opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe this afternoon.
He further noted that the letter will be handed over following the parliamentary group meeting.
A spokesperson from the opposition leader’s office said that UNP parliamentary group meeting is currently underway.
