Case to be filed against deputy minister Hemal Gunasekera's driver
The police say that a case will be filed at the Homagama court against the driver of deputy minister Hemal Gunasekera for driving a vehicle with an unregistered number plate.
A speeding ticket was recently issued to the driver of the vehicle in which deputy minister Hemal Gunasekera was travelling, for exceeding the speed limits in the Southern Expressway.
However the constable who issued the speeding ticket was later assaulted and his vehicle was set on fire at a rubber estate located in close proximity to the Southern expressway, in the Bombuwala area in Dodamgoda, Kalutara.
This incident provoked much discussion in the society and resulted in the constable who issued the ticket sending a resignation letter to the Police Department.
However police investigations have revealed that the vehicle in which the deputy minister was travelling was bearing an unregistered number plate.
Police spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said that accordingly legal action will be taken against his driver.
