Cooperative and Internal Trade Deputy Minister Hemaal Gunasekara said that the charge that he had travelled in the Expressway in a vehicle with an unregistered vehicle number plate was baseless.

The deputy Minister said that he had informed the IGP as well about this.

The police said that a case will be filed at the Homagama court against the driver of deputy minister Hemal Gunasekera for driving a vehicle with an unregistered number plate.

A speeding ticket was recently issued to the driver of the vehicle in which deputy minister Hemal Gunasekera was travelling, for exceeding the speed limits in the Southern Expressway.

However deputy minister Hemamaal Gunasekera says that his vehicle is a vehicle with a registered number of the relevant motor vehicle company.
