It was revealed in parliament that 324 new betting centres have been opened during 8 years.

This was following a statement made by UNP MP Dr. Harsha De Silva in parliament which also said that the tax on betting has been reduced by 50% while other taxes were increased.

Although names were not revealed it is clear as to who is behind these betting centres.

Some politicians who are among the owners of betting centres own a large among through this.

Several people strongly oppose these betting centres which cause great harm to the society.

On several instances religious leaders and the public stood up against these betting centres and one such incident was reported from Kekirawa.

Religious leader point out the harm caused by betting centres.

Who suffers the most from this betting menace? Isn’t it our children who are to take over the future of this country? Why cant this menace be stopped?
