Rajarata Rajina stops: Podi Menike also faces difficulties
The Railway Control Room stated that they have recommenced the train services along Northern and Upcountry train routes by now, which was halted this morning due to technical and other difficulties.
Rajarata Train, which runs along the Northern route was halted this morning between Polgahawela and Pothuhera stations due to a fault of the engine.
According to the Railway Control Room this caused hindrance to train services running along the Northern route.
In addition, the train services along the Udarata route between Idal-gas-hinna and Pattipola stations in Ohiya was suspended temporarily due to a tree falling across the railway tracks.
This caused delays in Podi Menike train heading from Badulla to Colombo Fort by one hour.
Similar incidents occurred during the past few days where faults in trains and derailments were reported.
However, Railway Transport Superintendent L.A.R. Ratnayake stated that such faults that hinder train services occur due to natural and technical causes.
