The JHU says that it regrets the statement made by Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama about Sri Lankan Buddhists.

Dalai Lama, on his 76th birthday, requested Buddhists in Sri Lanka and Myanmar to stop violence against Muslims in the two countries.

JHU Leader Omalpe Sobhitha Thera said baseless statement of this nature would only mar the image of Sri Lankan internationally.

The Thera also said it unfortunate that no responsible authority came forward to correct Dalai Lama’s statement.

Our news team attempted several times to contact Buddhist Affairs Commissioner Chandraprema Gamage to comment on Omalpe Sobhitha Thera’s allegations.

However our attempt was futile as the Commissioner did not answer our calls.
