Supreme Court orders to annul a circular issued by Northern Chief Minister Vigneshwaran
The Supreme Court today annulled a Circular issued by Northern Provincial Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran, citing it has violated the fundamental rights of Northern Provincial Chief Secretary and her staff.
The Northern Provincial Chief Secretary recently filed a case charging that her fundamental rights and those of her staff were violated and the Chief Minister interfered in her duty, and has attempted to remove her from her post.
The petition was taken before a panel of three Supreme Court Judges including Chief Justice Mohan Peries.
Chief Justice Mohan Peries said the Court expects an answer for the second charge which cited that the Chief Minister is attempting to remove the Chief Secretary from her position.
He said, considering the country’s reconciliation, an answer for the second charge, is expected before the 28th of this month.
