The Supreme Court informed Tamil National Alliance today to provide an affidavit citing its election manifesto presented to the people during the last Provincial Council election would never contribute to divide the country.

Chief Justice Mohan Peries stated this when seven petitions including the one filed by National Patriotic Movement Chairman Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera were taken before the Supreme Court today.

The petitioners have stated the TNA election manifesto would arouse racism in the society.

However lawyers appeared for TNA said there was no intention to separate the country so they can prove it through an affidavit.

Later the Supreme Court informed to provide the affidavit to the Petitioners before the next hearing.

He also said the case would be closed on the next day if the petitioners are satisfied with the affidavit.
