Buddhist monks of Bodu Bala Sena and several other organizations visited the Media Ministry today.

The monks said certain local and foreign media coverage on the recent incidents in Beruwala and Aluthgama have meted out injustice to Buddhist monks and Sinhala community.

In addition to BBS, monks of Sinhala Ravaya and National Bhikku Councils who met subject minister Keheliya Rambukwella pointed out the truth behind Aluthgama and Beruwala incidents was not reported.

Venerable Ayagama Samitha Thera who was assaulted at Darga town in Aluthgama on the last Poson Poya day narrated his ordeal to the minister during the meeting.

At this time, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said dissemination of certain incidents were compelled to censor with good intention to control the situation.

Before the monks left the ministry premises, they chanted seth pirith and gave blessings to the minister and the ministry secretary.

Meanwhile a group of lawyers filed 84 petitions at the Human Rights Commission today citing rights of residents were violated of those whose property was damaged in the Aluthgama and Beruwala incidents.
