The National Child Protection Authority said its Cyber Watch Unit had identified nearly 2500 child abusers who had allegedly lured children and youth through social media network sites.

NCPA Chairman Anoma Dissanayake said that the Cyber Watch Unit had arrested seven people on charges of perpetrating crimes against children and young people through social media networks.

She said the NCPA had also completed the process of building strong cases against 30 more sex offenders, who will be arrested in the next few months.
