UNP to Sapugaskanda today: legal action against the company constructed the pipe of the bouy.
Petroleum Industries Minister Anura Priydarshana Yaapaa says that legal action would be taken against the Italian Company that constructed the pipe fixed in the bay carrying fuel from the Colombo harbour to the Sapugasganda oil refinery over the crack in the pipe concerned.
A crack occurred in the pipe carrying fuel across the deep sea from Colombo harbour up to Sapugaskanda about one and a half months ago.
Since the pipe cracked again although it was repaired on several occasions,
work at the Sapugaskanda oil refinery has also been temporarily halted.
However a media team along with subject Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yaapaa visited the spot located about 9 miles from the Colombo Harbour day-before-yesterday.
However on this occasion the Minister said that by now it was possible to recommence work at the Sapugaskanda oil refinery.
Participating at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday subject Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yaapaa said that in the future the construction of the relevant pipe system would be carried out through direct purchase without any calling of tenders.
Meanwhile UNP MP attorney-at-law Ajith P. Perera says that a team of MPs including himself will carry out an observation tour today for inquiring about the work at the Sapugaskanda oil refinery.
