Another 23 Sri lankan fishermen arrested by Indian Authorities.
The Fisheries Ministry stated that only 39 Sri Lankan fishermen are under Indian custody for breaching Indian maritime boundary.
Recently 23 fishermen were arrested and their 4 trawlers were seized by Indian coastal guards for breaching Indian maritime boundary.
They have been taken to Kaaki-naada coastal belt.
In addition, 16 Sri Lankan fishermen are kept in custody in Karnaataka.
The Media spokesperson of the Fisheries Ministry Narendra Rajapaksha stated that they will take measures to immediately release this group of fishermen.
Meanwhile, he further stated that an invitation has been extended to India to attend the bilateral meeting to be held in Sri Lanka, between the top level representatives to resolve the fisheries problem.
