Police preparing to arrest UPFA MP Nilwala Wijesingha.
Sri Lanka Grama Niladari Association requested the IGP to arrest MP Nimal Wijesinghe alias Nilvala Wijesinghe for assaulting the Grama Niladari of Ambakote in Kurunegala.
Speaking to our news team Grama Niladari Association’s National Organizer Nevil Wijerathna said the same request has been made from the SLFP General Secretary as well.
On last Sunday, a group of persons started felling a jak tree illegally which was marked to be cut off by the Electricity Board in order to clear the way for a new high tension power line in Ambakote.
When Ambakote Grama Niladari Ananda Wimalasiri approached the scene to inspect the incident, the illegal fellers had told him that they were supporters of MP Nilvala Wijesinghe therefore not to disturb them.
Later the tree fellers have informed the Grama Niladari’s presence to the MP over the phone.
Ambakote Grama Nilaradari Ananda Wimalasiri told our news team that MP Nilvala Wijesinghe who arrived the scene a few minutes later and assaulted him.
Our news team also contacted Kurunegala district UPFA MP Nilvala Wijesinghe to comment on the allegations
The Ambakote Grama Niladari is still receiving treatment at Kurunegala hospital.
However the Grama Niladari complained the assault incident to the Ridiyagama police.
