The Matale Consumer Affairs Authority has raided a hiding place in a thicket behind a house of Tittawelgolla in Dambulla where spoilt dried fish were remade for sale.

Consumer Affairs Authority officials have found over 1500 kilograms of dried fish that were not suitable for human consumption at this place.

The main suspect of the racket has been arrested while the other workers on duty at the time of the raid have been warned and released.

Investigations revealed the suspect has bought rejected dry fish from Colombo importers at 50 to 150 rupees a kilogram, where he washed them and dried before releasing to the market.
