Minister Wimal Weerawansa wrote to the President today asking him to amend the gazette notification under which an advisory committee was appointed to consult the President Commission on Missing persons.

He said the government’s original stand not to hold an inquiry on any international pressure has been gradually dissipating and changing its form.

The President appointed a three member committee of internationally recognized legal luminaries to advise the Commission which looks into the loss of life during the war and find out any person or party is responsible for such loss of life.

Sri Lankan born British law expert Sir Desmond de Silva has been appointed to chair the Committee while Professors Sir Jeffrey Nice and David Crane were other members.
