Rs.18 Billion operational loss suffered by CEB during first 4 months of the year
The Midyear State Financial Situation report issued by the Ministry of Finance and Planning says that the Ceylon Electricity Board has suffered a operational loss of 18 Billion Rupees during the first 4 months of this year.
The report says that state investments in the electricity sector for the first 4 months had been 957 Million Rupees, out of which 534 Million had been spent on upper Kotmale, Old Lakshapana and New Lakshapana.
It also says that hydro power generation which stood for 50% of the electricity generated, had declined to 19.5% during these 4 months.
Last year the production cost of a unit of electricity was 17 Rupees and 70 cents, but it had increased to 24 Rupees and 37 cents this year.
Also the CEB has 44.34 Billion Rupees as unsettled bank loans.
