Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga lodged a complaint at Cinnamon Gardens Police today requesting to find out details regarding the person who lodged a false complaint.

Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga expressed his views regarding the matter to our news team.

Police Department has decided to take legal action against Digana Vithanage Piyasena, a resident of Melwatta – Rajagiriya, for claiming that Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga assaulted him.

The decision was taken after it was confirmed that he lodged a false complaint to the police.

However, police media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told our news team that they will take measures to arrest the suspects who assaulted the complainant.

Police media spokesman further stated that they will conduct an investigation regarding the complaint lodged by MP Ruwan Ranatunga who is the brother of Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, stating that the victim has scolded him in fowl language.
