French President, Francois Hollande announced that there are no survivors from the Air Algerie AH5017 passenger jet that crashed in Mali.

Hollande said one flight data recorder had been recovered, after French troops reached the crash site near Mali's border with Burkina Faso.

Air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane yesterday after pilots reported severe storms.

The 116 passengers on the Air Algerie flight included 51 French citizens.

A team of 100 French soldiers, with 30 vehicles, had travelled to the crash site today.

Algeria passenger plane wreckage found

The wreck of a plane that disappeared with 116 people on board on a flight from Burkina Faso to Algiers has been found in Mali.

The Burkinabe army said the plane, operated by Algeria's national airline Air Algerie, had crashed about 50 km from the Burkina Faso border.

Air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane early yesterday, after pilots reported severe storms.

The passengers included 51 French citizens.

Air Algerie Plane Crashed in Niger

An Algerian plane that went missing after taking off from Burkina Faso has crashed in Niger, private Algerian television station Elnahar reported.

The airliner crashed after crossing the airspace of Niamey, Niger's capital, the broadcaster said.

The Air Algerie flight from Burkina Faso to Algiers disappeared from radar early Thursday, the official Algerian news agency said.

Air navigation services had lost track of the plane after 0155 GMT, 50 minutes after takeoff.

Algeria airliner missing on Sahara route from Burkina Faso

Algeria's national airline, Air Algerie, says it has lost contact with one of its planes flying from Burkina Faso.

The airline says that contact was lost about 50 minutes after take-off from capital of Burkina Faso.

Officials said the passenger airliner AH 5017 had 110 passengers and six crew on board and was bound for the Algerian capital.
