Import tax on Dhal, Green Gram, Cowpea and grams reduced
The Ministry of Finance and Planning has decided to reduce the import taxes imposed on dhal, green gram, cowpea, red millet and gram with effect from tomorrow.
The ministry further stated that they took the decision to minimize the lack of supply of local grains owing to the prevailing drought in the island.
Accordingly, the tax imposed on 1 kilogram of Mysore dhal has been reduced by 3 rupees while tax imposed for 1 kilogram of Watana dhal has been reduced by 7 rupees.
In addition, tax on 1 kilo of green gram was reduced by 32 rupees while 1 kilo of cowpea was reduced by 30 rupees.
The Finance and Planning Ministry also stated that the tax imposed for 1 kilo of Gram and 1 kilo of red millet have been reduced by 5 rupees and 30 rupees respectively.
