Update : The person who was shot at near the Rukmani Devi junction dies
The person who was shot at near the Rukmani Devi junction in Thudella Ja-Ela this morning died at Ragama hospital this afternoon.
The victim has been identified as 72-year old resident of Dehiyagata.
Two armed men on a motor cycle have purposely knocked the victim and attempted to snatch his wallet.
The victim was riding a motor cycle with her wife to deposit 350 thousand rupees daily collection from his soft drink agency.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said the suspects have shot the couple after they failed to rob the money.

Husband and wife shot at in Ja-Ela, Husband in critical condition.
Initial investigations have revealed that the shooting at a couple at Rukmani- devi junction, Thudella, Ja Ela was committed for stealing money.
Two unidentified men with arms who arrived in a motor bike at 8.30 this morning shot at the couple who were also riding a bike.
The couple who operates an agency of a private beverage company, were on their way to the bank to deposit money at the time of the incident.
The 72 year old husband who received critical injuries following the shooting was admitted to Ragama Hospital, while his wife was unharmed.
The two are residents of Dehiya-gaatha area in Ja Ela.
