Sri lanka to keep vigilant on deadly Ebola virus.

The Communicable Disease Unit has taken steps to educate local health sectors about Ebola Virus that is fast spreading in African countries.

Communicable Disease Unit Director Dr. Paba Palihawadana said health sectors have been educated of immediate measures to be taken, by any chance, a patient with similar symptoms is found in the country.

The head of the World Health Organization and leaders of West African nations affected by the Ebola outbreak are expected to announce a joint 100 million dollar response plan.

Sierra Leone's president has declared a public health emergency over the outbreak after 233 people died there.

Ebola spreads through human contact with a sufferer's bodily fluids.

Initial flu-like symptoms can lead to external hemorrhaging from areas like eyes and gums, and internal bleeding which can lead to organ failure.

It kills up to 90% of those infected.

Although Asian Continent is not warned of Ebola virus, WHO has informed Asian countries too, to keep vigilant on the killer disease.
