Landslide threat in Nuwara-eliya and Kegalle

The National Building Research Organization issued a landslide warning to the Nuwara-eliya and Kegalle districts.

Accordingly this warning will be mainly for Nuwara-eliya, Norton bridge, Lakshapan and Castlereigh in the Ambagamuwa divisional secretariat and for the Hatton – Nuwara-eliya road.

Meanwhile, 53 houses were damaged by gale force winds that blew across the Meerigama area in Gampaha yesterday.

The MET Department stated that more showers can be expected over the country particularly in the southwestern parts during next few days.

Showers or thundershowers  will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
