Two political parties have handed over nominations for the Uva Provincial Council election so far while 11 independent groups deposited cash bonds.

The Janasetha Peramuna handed over its nominations this morning while Mawbima Janatha Paksaya handed over its nominations for the Badulla district last Friday.

The ultimatum to deposit cash bonds for Independent groups will be closed by 12 noon tomorrow.

Among the 11 independent groups who deposited cash bonds, seven are for the Moneragala district while the balance is for the Badulla district.

Meanwhile JVP expects to hand over its nominations for the two districts tomorrow.

However UPFA and UNP have not yet finalized their nomination lists.

Meanwhile Uva Provincial Governor Nanda Mathew has instructed DIGs of the two districts to manage affairs accordingly to ensure peace in the area as the GCE Advance Level examination is set to start tomorrow.

The governor has instructed police to take preventive action if any party supporters would attempt illegal campaign parades after handing over of nominations.

Meanwhile the Election Commissioner has sent 30 special officers to monitor the conduct of contestants during nominations and their behavior after handing over of their nominations.
