Sri Lanka Muslim Congress says that they will contest as an alliance from the Badulla district for the Uva provincial council elections.

The general secretary of the party Hassan Ali stated that All Ceylon Muslim Congress lead by Minister Rishard Bathiyutheen and the Upcountry Muslim Congress will join the SLMC to contest as United Democratic Alliance.

The symbol of the United Democratic Alliance will be a pair of leaves.

However the SLMC previously said that they will contest independently for the Badulla district under the tree symbol.

Meanwhile 4 political parties have handed over nominations from the Badulla district while 3 political parties and one independent party have handed over nominations from the Monaragala district for the Uva provincial council elections.

JVP handed over nominations for both districts today.

National Freedom Front is also scheduled to handover nominations from the Badulla district today.

United National Party and United Peoples’ Freedom Alliance are scheduled to handover nominations for the Uva provincial council elections tomorrow.
