UPFA MP & his brother threaten 2 election officers
A former UPFA Provincial Council Minister has scolded and threatened two assistant election officials and police who went to stop an illegal parade organized by UPFA supporters.
Acting on a tip-off about an illegal election procession that was parading from Mahiyangana towards Badulla, the two officials and police had visited the scene.
It is reported a parliamentarian was also participating in the procession at the time of the incident.
Earlier the Election Commissioner informed political party General Secretaries to advise their candidates not to hold processions after handing over nominations as the GCE Advanced Level examination is held these days.
However Election Commissioner’s Office stated that necessary steps have already been taken to complain the incident to police.
