No to double standard policy in implementation of law; President.-Video
President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that there should not be double standard policy in the implementation and the interpretation of law.
He said this policy is applied to both the judiciary as well as international organizations.
President Rajapaksa expressed these views during his speech to the 3rd South Asian Chief Justices Roundtable on Environmental Justice that started in Colombo this morning.
Chief Justices, Judges and legal luminaries of South Asian nations and several U.N. representatives participated in the round table discussion today.
Speaking further the President said there should be consistency in the application of international and national laws.
He said nobody expects a decline of justice and the rule of law but this fundamental principle of justice and the rule of law is violated by certain agencies within and outside the United Nations.
The President said this situation has stood in the way of development of many countries in the world.
