13 districts continue to be affected by drought: 1.6m persons affected: Water levels of Tanks decrease to 15%

110,062,0 persons belonging to 468 thousand families in 13 districts have been adversely affected by the drought prevalent in 13 districts.

General Manager of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board Ranjith Balasuriya stated that 300,075,0 thousand litres of water are been supplied to those areas daily.

Director General of the Disaster Management Centre Major Lenard Mark stated that all possible facilities will be provided to those affected.

Meanwhile, Director General of the Irrigations Department Badra Kamaladasa stated that the water levels of their main reservoirs have dropped to 15%.

The MET Department meanwhile, stated that although a drought is affecting 13 districts, showers can be expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces.
