Investment target of 5,000 Million Dollars by 2016
Foreign direct investments in Sri Lanka have shown a good progress with a 72% growth during the last 8 years.
The new programme of the Sri Lanka Board of Investment was handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Foreign investments from 1978 to 2013 were 9,918 US dollars while 7,141 Million Dollars of investments have been made from 2006 to 2013.
Only in 2013, 1,300 Million US dollars of investments had been made and it is expected to record 5,000 Million US Dollars of Foreign direct investments by 2016, and 8,000 Million by 2020.
Meanwhile, the graduation ceremony of the Sri Lanka International Buddhist Education Institute was held under the patronage of the President at the Pallekele International Buddhist Centre.
A felicitation was also held for Anu Nayaka of the Malwathu Chapter of the Shyaamopaali Wansha Dr. Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera who was honoured with the Maha Saddhamma Jothika Dhaja honorary title from Myanmar.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa also had a cordial chat with the devotees who were in Kandy to view the Esala Perahera.
