President Mahinda Rajapaksa requested the public representatives not to put people in trouble having intermingled politics and development.
He said such attempts would disrupt the government’s ongoing development agenda.
Addressing the Matale District Development Committee meeting held at the Urban Council premises, the President said it is the duty of all officials to protect the self employees who try to stand on their own feet.
During the meeting, attention was drawn to the problems faced by cardamom farmers in the area.
The President also gave necessary instructions in order to improve the educational and literary level of children in the Matale district.
The President drew his attention to the development activities of Aluviharaya temple during the meeting.
