Modi govt will strengthen close relations between Sri Lanka and India
Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Y.K. Sinha said several measures have been taken under the Modi government to strengthen close relations between Sri Lanka and India.
Addressing India’s 68th Independence Day anniversary held at the Indian High Commission in Colombo this morning, High Commissioner Sinha said priority is given to develop interaction among the citizens of both countries.
India has contributed to several development projects including the development of railway lines in the North.
India expects to develop the railway line upto Talai Mannar, and start a ferry service between Talai Mannar and Rameshwaram.
High Commissioner Sinha is optimistic that once the ferry service between the two countries is completed, an Indian citizen will be able to travel to Kataragama on one ticket and equally, a Sri Lankan will be able to visit Bodhgaya.
