TNA requests Navi Pillai to back date investigations to 1974.

TNA members of the Northern and the Eastern Provincial Council have written to UN Human Rights Commissioner Navaneedan Pillay to backdate the starting time frame for investigation to 1974.

The UN Human Right Commission has taken the same investigation period applied by the LLRC that is the time frame from 2002 to the last stage of war in 2009.

A resolution was passed during the Human Rights Council session held last March demanding an investigation into the war crimes allegedly occurred during the last stage of war in Sri Lanka.

Later the Human Rights Commissioner appointed a three member investigative committee.

However the committee is reported to have started obtaining necessary statements outside of the country after they were denied entry to Sri Lanka.

TNA provincial councillor M.K. Sivajilingam further explained about their new request to the UN Human Rights Commissioner.
