A group of minor health workers still on strike.
The All Ceylon Suva Seva Association stated their strike which was launched yesterday is continuing today as well.
Association President D. Jayalal said hospital functions discharged by minor workers have been affected due to the strike.
Minor health workers launched the strike last morning on several demands including a salary increase.
Meanwhile a group of minor workers affiliated to Joint Trade Union Federation called off the strike after they had a discussion with President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday.
However Suva Seva Association President Jayalal said his organization is continuing the strike.
Joint Trade Union Federation Convener T.H. Somarathna said his union decided to call off the strike after the President promised them to settle the matter within three months.
Several Hospital directors told our news team that the functions discharged by minor workers at their hospitals have improved today than yesterday.
They also said security forces’ assistance was sought to continue such services at Badulla and Karapitiya Teaching hospital.
