Propaganda campaigns prohibited within 500m of polling centres

Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya says it is prohibited to engage in election propaganda campaign activities within a radius of 500 meters of a polling station.

He said police department has been informed to prevent such activities if any would take place during the Uva Provincial council election.

Postal voting will be held on September 4th and 5th.

However those who fail to cast their vote on these two days can do so on September 11th.

The Commissioner also said the use of mobile phones, taking photographs or filming within polling stations are also prohibited.
