Meethotamulla garbage issue will be addressed by September: Parliamentarian R. Duminda Silva-Video
Colombo district Parliamentarian R. Duminda Silva stated that work on the housing project carried out for the families who are affected by the garbage issue in Meethotamulla, shall be completed by September.
A discussion with this regard was held at the Paramadharmodhaya Temple in Wellampitiya under the patronage of the Parliamentarian.
Officials of the Urban Development Authority, Police and residents of Meethotamulla were present at the discussion.
Chief incumbent of the Paramadharmodhaya Temple in Wellampitiya Venerable Vitiyala Kavidhaja Thera spoke regarding the project to construct 300 houses and Parliamentarian R. Duminda Silva stated that work on the housing project, shall be completed by September.
Director of the Colombo Urban Development Authority Prasad Ranaweera participating at the discussion stated that funds have already been allocated for the project.
The Director also stated that as the public representative of Kolonnawa Parliamentarian R Duminda Silva had requested for houses to be provided from Kolonnawa itself for the people affected in the area.
Accordingly he stated that the housing project is being carried out in the Saalamulla area in Kolonnawa.
Speaking at the discussion Colombo district Parliamentarian R. Dumindha Silva reiterated that work on the housing project for the families who are affected by the garbage issue in Meethotamulla, shall be completed by September.
