A new regulation when storing items not suitable for selling or consumption.
The consumer affairs authority is planning to take stern action against those who do not maintain a proper report regarding items not suitable for selling or items to be destroyed from the 1st of September.
The authority stated that the relevant gazette notification was issued on the 15th of August.
Accordingly, if outdated goods are stored by producers, importers, suppliers and distributors it is mandatory to maintain a report of the items.
Director General of the Consumer Affairs Authority J M U Douglas stated that legal action will be taken against those who violate the set regulations.
