Garbage issue at the Karapiyiya hospital aggravates: decisive discussion this morning.
Doctors of the Galle – Karapitiya teaching hospital will engage in a decisive discussion this morning at 8 regarding the garbage issue that has cropped up in the hospital.
Director of the hospital Dr. Shelton Perera stated that if the relevant authorities do not take adequate steps to collect garbage piled up at the hospital the doctors will take a decision to refrain from services.
We inquired about this allegation leveled by hospital director from Galle Mayor Methsiri De Silva.
Galle Mayor stated that since a culvert is constructed by the Road development authority obstructing the road where garbage is dumped, it is difficult to dispose garbage.
However, Deputy Health Minister Lalith Dissanayaka states that local government institution heads must be held responsible for the garbage issue that has cropped up at the Galle – Karapitiya teaching hospital.
