25,000 bottles of foreign liquor & Rs 5 million worth cigarettes seized from a house in Borella-Video
Acting on a tip-off, the Organized Crimes Division of the Police Head Quarters seized a stock of 100 million rupees worth of foreign liquor and 5 million rupees worth of cigarettes from a house in Mayfield road Borella today.
Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said 25 thousand bottles of liquor of different brands were among the stock.
Meanwhile police arrested 6 personas including the head marshal of Peradeniya University and the Sigiriya Kimbissa Vidyalaya Principal for attempting to sell an 87-years old passport for 30 million rupees.
Police Media Spokesman said the suspects were arrested while they were making the transaction at a private bank in Colpetty.
Police have been on the lookout for such an old passport after a resident of Wattala had made a complaint that a passport with antiquity value was stolen in a super market in Colpetty recently.
