A tense situation erupted at the government press today after the members of Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya stormed an awareness meeting organized by the trade union collective.
The Government Press Trade Union Collective which is comprised of UNP and JVP workers charged that the Government Printer is a political appointee, and SLFP Uva Provincial Council election propaganda materials are printed in the Government Press.
The Trade Union Collective met opposition politicians to educate them on these matters and, the meeting was organized today to inform the membership of the outcome of the meeting.

Lalith Indika told our news team a group of Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya representatives assaulted the participants of the meeting.
Our news team contacted the President of the Government Press branch of the Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya Sarath-chandra Maheepala to comment on the allegations.
The Government Printer Lalith de Silva had to call the police, to bring the situation under control.
However Government Printer Lalith De Silva told our news team that his department is functioning as usual despite the incident.
