A patient who sought treatment at Kandy general hospital collapsed and died while the Para medics’ strike was on this morning.

Meanwhile General Secretary of the Supplementary Medical Services Trade Union Joint Federation Saman Jayasekera told our news team his union has decided to withdraw from emergency services in Colombo national hospital from this afternoon.

He said that the union has decided to join the service if only the authorities call for duty.

The union withdrew from emergency services from all teaching hospitals with effect from 12 this noon as their demands were not met accordingly.

Meanwhile a meeting between the Supplementary Medical Services Trade Union Joint Federation and Acting Health Ministry is currently underway at the latter’s office.

Federation’s General Secretary Saman Jayasekera further said that the strike will continue if a solution is not found during the ongoing meeting.
