The treatment activities of government hospitals have reached crisis levels due to the continuous strike by the members of the Paramedical joint union federation.
A hospital spokesman said that they find it difficult to obtain essential drugs even to treat critical patients.
Meanwhile Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena who is currently in Geneva released a notice and requested the strikers to call off the strike as their demands are under consideration.
However Acting Health Minister Lalith Dissanayake told our news team that strikes of this nature by health workers should be prohibited in the future.
