The Paramedical Joint Union Federation says that there is no change in the strike launched by them and a decisive discussion will be held this afternoon to take a final decision regarding the strike.
They noted that the discussion held last afternoon with the acting minister of health Lalith Dissanayake, was also futile.
The executive committee of the paramedics which met thereafter has decided to continue the strike.
The Colombo district Court issued an enjoining order on the Para-medics’ strike that affected the functions of the government hospitals for the last five days.
The court issued the order after considering a petition filed by a patient of the Colombo National hospital.
Accordingly Colombo district judge Sujatha Alahapperuma issued the interim order until the case is taken again for hearing on September 12th.
When we made inquiries in this regard a senior spokesperson of the Paramedical Joint Union Federation said that they are yet to receive the court order therefore they will continue the strike.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the government nurses union Saman Rathnapriya stated that if the authorities try to suppress the strike by other means without providing solutions they too will join the paramedics strike.Related story published below :http://www.hirunews.lk/90700/update-health-strike-continues-despite-court-order-video
