Borella police arrested 6 persons along with a photo copy of a historical passport that carries the signature of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd.

Initial police investigations revealed that this passport issued in 1930 belongs to a 25-year old person in Bandarawela.

The passport which issued during colonial era in Sri Lanka is passed on to the youth by his great grandfather.

Following an advertisement on the Internet, the youth had visited an individual in Negombo intending to sell this historical passport for 3 million rupees.

Later a group of persons assaulted the youth and ran away with the passport.

In response to another internet advertisement published by the same youth who posed as an antiquity collector, a group of persons wanted to sell him an old passport similar to that of the passport grabbed from him.

Officers of the Western Province Intelligence Unit together with Borella police arrested the 6 persons when they came to meet the new buyer with a photocopy of the controversial passport.
