No change in punishment for bus drivers who violates traffic laws

According to the Police Headquarters, no changes have been made to the penalties imposed on the offenses committed by the bus drivers.

SSP Ajith Rohana stated this while responding to the allegations made by the bus unions saying that Police do not fine the private bus drivers for minor offenses and produce them before the courts.

The Lanka Private Bus owners Association stated that if they produce private bus drivers in court for minor offenses, then the same law should be commonly applied to all vehicles.

The Chairman of the Association stated that it was unfair to implement such a law only for buses.
