A wild elephant was found dead in a paddy field at Aluyatawela, Girandurukotte.

Three wild elephants have entered Alu-yata-wela village between 4 to 5 this morning.

One of the elephants has died after falling into a paddy field in the area.

The body of the elephant had cut wounds and traces of bleeding near the eye.

When inquired from the Director General of Wildlife Department H.D. Ratnayake regarding the matter, he stated that a doubt has been raised regarding the death of the elephant and it could be cleared following a post-mortem.
